The finishes in the living room were inspired by art deco colour palettes, with glossy, reflective dark surfaces, a warm terracotta ceiling, moody muted blue walls, velvety colour drenched sofas, and built-ins with black lacquer-like and warm wood-effect finishes. The hardware was carefully chosen to harmonise the colour palette with metallic gold and copper accents. The effect was an atmosphere that was immersive in the client’s core needs of leisure and entertainment.
Ornate mouldings, a pair of crystal downlight pendants, and a bold colour choice shaped the character of the oft neglected fifth wall, the ceiling.
The long sleek media console was designed to fulfil the storage and entertainment needs of the client. Tall, vertical display built-in cabinets were conceived to add visual volumetric height to the space.
A large wooden coffee table that matched the commanding scale of the sofas was sourced and restored to align with the atmosphere of the art deco inspired space.
Since leisure and entertainment were the guiding principles in the design of the space, the sofas were custom made according to the ergonomic needs of the client. The curve of the armrest was meticulously measured and designed by Immaculate to the client's comfort, mirroring the disciplined precision of a bespoke tailor. Ergonomics did not come at the cost of aesthetics. The copper piping detail added a warm contrast while simultaneously maintaining a cohesive colour palette. The sofas, while contrasting in scale with the space, were colour drenched to visually blend in with the room to provide a deeply immersive sense of repose.
